About Us

Our client is  a fast-growing, client-centric Registered Investment Advisor (RIA) firm providing comprehensive financial planning and investment management services to high-net-worth individuals, families, and business owners. As part of our commitment to delivering truly holistic wealth solutions, we are launching an in-house tax department — and we're looking for a highly motivated and experienced Tax Manager to lead the charge.

Role Overview

As our first Tax Manager, you will be responsible for creating, building, and overseeing the internal tax function from the ground up. This is a strategic leadership role designed for someone with an entrepreneurial mindset and deep technical expertise in tax planning and compliance, particularly for high-net-worth individuals and business entities. You’ll work in close partnership with our financial advisors to integrate tax strategy into the overall client experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build the Tax Function: Design and implement internal tax systems, workflows, tools, and processes aligned with the firm’s advisory model.
  • Client Service & Tax Planning: Deliver proactive tax planning and compliance services to high-net-worth individuals, families, trusts, and small businesses.
  • Team Development: Hire, train, and lead a future team of tax professionals as the department scales.
  • Compliance Oversight: Manage and review the preparation of federal, state, and local tax returns (1040s, 1065s, 1120-Ss, 1041s, etc.), ensuring accurate and timely filings.
  • Collaboration: Partner closely with financial advisors and planners to integrate tax strategy into clients’ broader financial plans.
  • Technology & Tools: Evaluate and implement tax software and digital tools to streamline operations and reporting.
  • Risk Management: Maintain compliance with IRS and state tax regulations and stay ahead of changes in tax law.
  • Client Communication: Communicate complex tax strategies in a clear and approachable way to clients and internal stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • CPA required; MST or EA a plus
  • 7+ years of progressive tax experience, preferably in a public accounting firm or RIA/wealth management setting
  • Strong knowledge of individual, trust, and small business taxation
  • Demonstrated experience managing client relationships and delivering tax advisory services
  • Proven ability to build systems and lead teams
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
