Financial Planning Associate, Albuquerque, NM

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Financial Planning Associate to join a collaborative advisory team focused on helping clients make confident financial decisions.

This role is ideal for someone who is either:

  • Starting a career in financial planning and eager to learn, or
  • An experienced professional looking to deepen their planning expertise and take ownership of client relationships.

You will work directly with advisors and clients to design, implement, and monitor personalized financial plans. The team is committed to teaching the planning process, systems, and technical skills. Curiosity and initiative matter more than prior industry experience.

What You’ll Do

Financial Planning & Client Experience

  • Build and maintain financial plans for individuals and families
  • Model alternative planning scenarios and recommendations
  • Prepare meeting materials, presentations, and client deliverables
  • Track client goals, progress, and action items
  • Gather financial information and documentation from clients
  • Participate in client meetings and gradually lead them as you grow in the role
  • Explain financial plans, portfolios, and recommendations in clear language
  • Coordinate planning strategies across investments, insurance, and cash flow

Ongoing Planning & Reviews

  • Update plans as life changes occur
  • Prepare review reports and progress updates
  • Monitor client roadmaps and next-step action items
  • Follow up with clients on planning tasks and implementation

Implementation & Operations

  • Assist with opening and maintaining investment accounts
  • Support transfers, rollovers, and distributions
  • Coordinate implementation of insurance and investment strategies
  • Collaborate with internal specialists and external partners
  • Maintain accurate records and client documentation

Team & Growth Responsibilities

  • Develop relationships with industry partners and resources
  • Support workflow improvements and planning processes
  • Adapt responsibilities as the firm grows
  • Continue education in financial planning concepts and tools

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree (any major)
  • Strong organization and attention to detail
  • Professional communication skills
  • Ability to learn complex concepts and explain them simply
  • Reliable follow-through and accountability
  • Comfort working both independently and collaboratively
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality

No prior investment experience required — training is provided!!

Preferred (Not Required)

  • Interest in personal finance or financial planning
  • Experience in client service, analysis, or problem-solving roles
  • Financial licenses (Series 7, Series 63, Life & Health)
  • Pursuit of CFP®, ChFC®, CLU®, or similar designation
